Known also as Japan grass, cogongrass is estimated to have infested between 500,000 and 1,000,000 acres in Mississippi and the Florida panhandle, as well as 32 Alabama counties. An infestation will displace almost all other grasses, forbs, and shrubs—and negatively impact wildlife. This publication will help you identify the distinctive features of cogongrass, as well as help you take steps for safe and effective eradication. Includes information on rehabilitation—the final and most important phase of cogongrass control.
