Dogwood is among the most widely grown native trees in Alabama. The flowering dogwood suffers from the widest range of foliar and soilborne diseases, which not only reduce floral display and foliage quality but also affect the health of the tree. This publication includes color photos and descriptions of such diseases as spot anthracnose, powdery mildew, armillaria root rot, canker, and decline—and recommends control practices for trees in Alabama and neighboring states.
