Sericea lespedeza is a warm-season perennial legume that can be grown in a variety of Alabama soils and can be used for grazing, for hay, and as a conservation plant. Auburn University has performed most of the research and breeding experiments on sericea and has released many of the varieties, including 'AU Grazer', specifically for grazing. This publication explains the background and varieties of sericea, as well as the properties that make it such a versatile plant.
