Cogongrass (Imperata cylindrica) is one of the most significant invasive weeds in Alabama. A crucial aspect of combating this aggressive weed is accurate plant identification and effective detection of infestations. This brochure provides detailed descriptions and illustrations of the plant characteristics necessary to properly identify cogongrass in the field. Comparisons on look-alike grass species are provided.
