Feed costs represent the single highest cost in most cattle operations. There are several alternative feedstuffs that are capable of reducing overall feed cost for beef cattle. This publication describes factors for consideration when choosing feed and outlines the advantages and limitations of cotton, peanuts, soybeans, wheat, rice, corn, citrus pulp, brewer’s grains and candy as alternative supplements to regular feed options.
