Most weed problems in residential landscape plantings can be controlled by four general practices: (1) clean sanitation; (2) mechancial practices; (3) cultural practices; and (3) the use of herbicides. Weeds must first be identified and then appropriate herbicides can be chosen. See ANR-0500-B, 2013 Alabama Pest Management Handbook, Volume 2 for specific pest management information and recommendations.
